The team has a way better system and direction under Glasner, BUT to be fair, Eze and Olise played very few games together for almost the entire season until recently. When you have players like that injured at a club like Palace it makes a huge difference. Also, the January signings of Munoz and Wharton have a big hand in the turnaround too. Not taking credit away from Glasner, just acknowledging the other factors as well.

Keep Eze and Olise one more year and push for Europe

He’s been really solid. And versatile too, played in the midfield when guys were injured before Wharton came in. He’s established himself as a starter in the back 3 for sure even if no one left, although I expect Guehi to leave.

Palace are the local club to where I was born. I moved at 8 but always keep an eye on how things are going. 18 months ago they looked like they were done. The squad had an average age of 96 and the future looked like relegation. Today, they look great and I don’t think they’ve been this strong since Wright and Bright (yeah, I’m old) and many other decent players.

Besides the obvious of Eze being right footed and Olise being left footed, Eze is a bit more aggressive and quicker in tight areas while Olise is extremely skilled and elegant, usually a bit wider. When I think of a signature move for each you’re likely to see in any game it’s Eze receiving the ball with 2-3 defenders around him near midfield and making an amazing turn and accelerating away from them. For Olise it’s taking on a defender out wide with a step over and cutting inside to shoot or deliver a ball into the box. Eze is better at getting into dangerous scoring areas while Olise is better at delivering crosses and curling shots. They create almost everything going forward for Palace, which caused a huge problem when they were hurt this season. Munoz and to some extent Wharton have helped take SOME of the burden off of them, but they are by far and away the most talented and valuable players in the squad.
