I really like how Erling reacts to missed opportunities. He gets upset, but he pours it into his playing. Doesn't break formation or overcompensate because he's frustrated, doesn't give up nor does he get desperate and over-aggressive. It's like he tells himself "The next ball that looks for my sprint will end up in the back of the net." It works and it's not because he has anything to prove to anyone. His head's just right for the job, that meditation celebration of his is no coincidence. His ability to slap himself into optimal performance after he's maybe fumbled the bag a bit is something that I've not seen any other player do, whatever he does to himself internally to stray from being 'blocked' outweighs the need for 'classy finishes' or jogo bonito. Say what you will about tap-ins. (Because never mind the quality of diagonal runs he pours out every single match, and how he beats the offside trap in practically every game, focus on those...) They're simple, but it'll never mean they're -easy-. Otherwise, this record wouldn't even need to be a thing. What a player. He looks 'rustic' but really has nuance up the ears. Buddha fire-breathing monster.
