I like to fantasize that our stars know what we are building and recognize that last year was beyond unlucky. Even with the injury crisis we were a sketchy handball call away from advancing in Europe and couldn’t catch a break in cup draws. However, the reality is that Bruno will certainly be tempted by an offer from City and I could see Isak being interested in going to Arsenal. Here’s hoping Eddie is able to talk these guys into staying another season while we make a truly special domestic run

I want our club to act like a elite club now. Ritchie, Dummett, Gillespie are for me nothing but dressing room cheerleaders, none of them are good enough for League one, let alone PL, and they pick up 100k/week salary... rather have Tim Krul/Forster as 3rd choice. And two teenage wonderkids in the matchday squads, as of now there's no clear pathway for youngsters if Howe keeps these has-beens around. -Isak won't go anywhere because nobody can afford him. Now it's about getting a competent 2nd choice who's availability is much better than Wilson's - If Bruno.G goes he's got my blessings, he's carried us this year and genuinely loves this club. If he stays however then he and us fans deserves better. Get rid of Longstaff and sign a No.6 backup so Bruno can rest at times or play further forward as No.8 - Get rid of the Bruce/Ashley era players who's for me got loser mentalities, just happy picking up wages whilst not having ambition to play. I can accept having Murphy & Krafth for another season as they are versatile, but they need to be sold next year. Lascelles should have been gone too but he's not going anywhere with the knee injury he's recovering from. -Get rid of everyone out on loan except Minteh & Kuol. Buy out their contracts like Arteta did so we can get a clean fresh start. - This club have a loser mentality, and it's been the case for centuries. We don't perform when the pressure is on us, we had it all in our hands with good fixtures and bottled 6th place. That's why I want us to sign more Bruno's Isak, Botman's & Gordon's, players who won't settle for 8th or 9th. - I want to see the club have a proper review of what went wrong regarding injuries, we broke a Premier league record for most days out through injuries, we can't just blame bad luck, there's a reason for this. Eddie Howe still got my full support. But he needs to realize that his job could be in danger if he doesn't deliver in the PL first few months of next season. He needs to be ruthless as a coach and make the difficult decision and sell players who's not good enough to take us closer to Arsenal, Man City & Liverpool level
avatar
E.Anderson was born and raised in Newcastle England. He is aware that England are keeping a close eye on him and has been scouting him alot. Alot of our players got the option to play for Scotland ( Gordon, Barnes, Livramento, Anderson) etc, but I think they all want to wait a bit for England to give them a chance
avatar
Should have started the season with minimum 71 OVR, he was great for Chelsea. Super disrespectful League one rating this. One of the best young fullbacks in the PL
avatar
bruh...you barely won, weren t even the better team and you re still garbage like wtf

Longstaff is a absolute passenger, feels like we are playing with two in midfield when he's starting, and the stats back it up mostly https://s3a.sofifa.net/e158818f981badca69243e71b06db5d3f069f8b7.jpg

https://x.com/craighope_dm/status/1791140728552169787?s=46&t=T3P2zvXsCCgY_SL9vP9KxQ Can’t blame Tripps for this. It’s absurd that after the season they’ve had to make the team fly across the world shortly after the season ends to play more games.
avatar
It's like Sean Longstaff got a cult ready to come out whenever he's being criticised on social media. They will even argue that the individual stats shown by Sofascore aren't accurate, blindly defending him. Looking at their profiles it's mostly older dudes 50+ tagging each other for support 🤣
avatar
No result went our way. Luton & Burnley lost, meaning Forest might be happy with a draw against Chelsea. Spurs won in the end so we can forget 5th spot. Its luckily in our hands still. Have to repeat that it's time to let Wilson go this summer, reason Isak got brought off was because Howe wanted to save him for Man utd & Brentford games
avatar
It was evident that we missed Fabian Schär today. Krafth & Burn didn't once play a straight line breaking pass to test that slow Brighton defence. MOTM for me was Anderson closely followed by Lewis Hall
avatar
Anyone disagree with my opinion that spending tens of millions on Ramsdale would be a big mistake? There are alternatives available for much less money and he’s not getting ahead of Pope imo. We need to spend around 10m on a keeper and put the rest towards other needs, whether it’s a winger, striker, or midfielder

Season 12/13 in the Europa league. We had a terrible squad depth back then. But the starting 11 was quite strong Krul Debuchy-Taylor-Colocchini-Santon Ben arfa-Sissoko-Tioté-Cabaye-J.Gutirrez - Cisse- We struggled badly in the league that season but did well and went far in the UEL, so the owner was forced to strengthen the team in the January window. Our Head scout went to France and brought like 5 frenchmen or something back with him to Newcastle. That's when the nickname " Frenchcastle" was born. But there was also constant riots and protest at that time as we didn't like the owner or manager. Selling Demba Ba for £7m didn't help either..

Joselu???! Omg 😱
avatar
Joselu being a Real Madrid HERO is one of the funniest storylines that could’ve possibly come out of the Rafa Benitez era. Good for him man
avatar
75/85. Such a wellrounded player, he can probably play in all outfield positions and do well. Physically & technically very good. He just got to improve his decision making to become a top top player https://sofifa.com/player/13986234/elliot-anderson

He's already there

84-85/88 surely

His numbers in terms of goals/assist is really solid for a CM in this league. But stats can be very misleading. Longy has been directly poor since returning from his injury break back in December. He's very passive in all phases and it feels like Bruno.G is doing everything himself in that midfield far too often. It has to be mentioned that Longstaff got discomfort in a foot and is getting regular injections before the games, but given that he's playing 90mins every week I'm sure it's not a big deal or Howe would sub him off before '70min. It's great to have players who's come through the academy and genuinely loves the club, we got lots of them in this squad which is nice. However, Longstaff isn't good enough for a team who's trying to qualify for UCL regularly, especially if he's getting lots of minutes. Due to how the FFP rules work it'd be great to sell him now with a 1year left on his contract. I rather we lose Longstaff than a key player like Isak/Bruno. Longstaff would do well for a midtable PL team. If I could sum Longstaff up with one word it'd be " Average" and for a club like Newcastle that's not good enough, as the aspiration is to catch Man City, Liverpool etc

Krafth is similar to Godfrey from your club, can do a job at RB, CB & LB. With the amount of injuries Newcastle get its really handy to have someone to do a solid job when needed. Krafth also knows his role and will support his teammates daily when nog playing himself, every club need these kinds of players. The days when a club could replace a whole 25man squad within two summers are over, so unlike Man City & Chelsea back in the days we'll have to progress slowly as a club
avatar
Very impressed with Hall tdy
avatar
I agree that ST isn't the main priority this summer ( RW & CB) but I'd be nice to have someone who can rotate with Isak throughout the season, Wilson is sadly not the answer. I'd even be happy with a young " project striker" a young talented one for 15-25 mil which isn't alot, he could then be 3rd choice behind Isak& Cal. Kubo & Soule are two great young wingers. Soule's €30m price tag is really appealing, he's also got a higher ceiling than Kubo imo. Another young RW we should try and get Is Nico Williams, that £42m RC is a absolute bargain. Lets hope we can keep our stars this summer and build a great squad for 24/25!
avatar
My one beef is bringing on Ritchie. Why not bring on Alex Murphy instead?
avatar
Agree with many points you make here. But not regardless Wilson. Us Newcastle fans knows what a special striker we got in Callum Wilson, if he's on the pitch he's basically guaranteed to score. However, we can't afford to have a injury-prone backup to Isak. Wilson can't stay fit no matter how he's being managed, the body of his is too damaged unfortunately. I'd love to keep Wilson as a 3rd choice which would allow Howe to play two up top at times, but as 2nd choice it's too risky which we have seen over the past couple of season
avatar
Shakey start first 20, but once we got that first goal Burnley had to take risk and leave gaps behind their backline. And Newcastle on the transitions are perhaps the best team in the league with the pace of Gordon & Isak. I liked the tactical switch to match Burnley's 442 and go man-man press. Everyone played in their natural positions today bar Krafth who I think looked even better as a CB. Great to finally win convincingly away from home
avatar
i forgot about Krath, my bad. I hope Alex Murphy get some playtime if we get a blowout against Burnley
avatar
Devastating news with Schär likely to miss all 4 games. He's the one together with Bruno.G who starts our attacks with perfect long passes/line-breaking passes. Defensively he's the aggressor as well as he's often stepping out to Intercept passes and then start our counterattack,a superb reader of the game. I suspect Krafth will start and it's fine, he do have recovery pace and is solid defensively. But I think Alex Murphy should start as he's better at progressing the ball and more comfortable on it compared to Krafth. With that said, I'm happy as long as Paul Dummett gets 0 minutes
avatar
We don't have a AM type in our senior squad, so I'd not mind it. But I think No.6 position is crucial. The system has been exposed against tougher teams, especially away from home. Opponents have packed players in the pockets behind our flat midfield 3 which creates huge dilemmas for our backline whether to drop, or jump up on the player between the lines. A proper no.6 who sits deeper would help to combat that issue. https://s3a.sofifa.net/061f0952a86bd41a95d18c992d38ce6570559987.jpg Here we see Miley, Bruno & Longstaff so disconnected from our backline. So Dan Burn who was LB is having to step into midfield to deal with players between the lines which isn't ideal incase Walker comes bombing down the right wing. Our CB's can't jump because they are being occupied. These are tactical tweaks opposing managers have done as they know that Eddie Howe wants all 3 midfielders to press high, it might work against weaker teams, but will be difficult against the better teams. Its time for Howe to adjust for next season imo
avatar
Found a compilation on twitter today of Tonali/Bruno/Joelinton from our first game against the Villa. Damn near cried from how beautiful those lads play together. The recovery pace, the technical ability, the everything was so fantastic to watch after being forced to see Sean Longstaff mope about. Have to close out this season strong and finish 6th, if that can happen we enter an exciting summer of spending and reinforcing this squad for another European run.
avatar
Joelinton, Bruno.G & Tonali, three players on the same wavelength. Was a joy to see them backheel & play one-twos with each other. Longstaff might be playing with pain injections, but he's not much better than his current level. 1 year left on contract, nows the time to sell Longstaff, better to invest in our other two younger Geordies Miley & Anderson
avatar
Udogshit 77/83, why is he higher than Emerson Palmieri??

I was honestly very sceptical when we first was linked with Gordon. The media said that we were battling for his signature with Chelsea also being interested. Rumours of fees around £50m when we already had Saint-Maximin & Joelinton as LW options didn't make much sense at the time. From what I had seen or Gordon at Everton I wasn't seeing impressed and saw him as a £20m player at most. He was diving alot, fighting with opponents on the pitch and came across as very arrogant. Sort of 2 months into his Newcastle career that stereotype still hadn't changed, he was once subbed in against Brentford and then subbed off 45 mins later in the last few mins of the game. He then refused to shake hands with the manager and pushed him away when Eddie Howe tried to explain the sub. But at the end of last season we saw a long interview with Gordon where he said that Newcastle fans hadn't even seen 20% of what he was capable of, and that he would not have a vacation in order to work on his fitness and weakness to come back to 23/24 as a much better player. Gordon played U21 euros with England, he won the tournament and also got named the player of the tournament. Rather than take vacation like everyone else in that tournament he went straight to the US and linked up with his Newcastle teammates who were having pre season. That showed the mentality this kid got, he's never happy and wants to constantly improve. I'm yet to see a more hardworking LW in modern football. Gordon is I think 2nd on the list for most sprints in the PL this season. He's sprinting backwards to protect the LB Dan Burn, and he's sprinting forward to create chances, fitness levels improved massively, and that's because he worked on it last summer rather than having 4 weeks off. Anthony Gordon might not be blessed technically, but his work ethic & determination will take him to the top
avatar
Being supplied like guys like Jacob Murphy, Longstaff & Almiron, that's really impressive
avatar
Eventhough i wasnt born in Newcastle or have any relationship towards the club, i still love this club and it's my favourite English team. Always felt attracted to the club.
avatar
I don't think anyone here will say yes. Market for #6 & #8 is heavily inflated. Guys like Onana gets a £70m price tag. Lavia £50mil, Caicedo £115m, Enzo £110m, Ugarte £60m, even a average one like Gallagher with a expiring contract would cost £50m. My point is, why sell our best player when we couldn't replace him with a quality midfielder who'd cost under £60m. I'm hoping that nobody triggers that release clause. Bruno is a unique player who's top In all phases of the play, he's arguably the most complete player itw right now but we aren't able to see it because he's our No.6. £100m in this market won't help us bring in the quality to replace someone like Bruno, it'll only help us balance the books
avatar
He needs more playstyles
avatar
Sorry to break it to you mate but its much more likely that Newcastle are poaching Chelsea's best players from now on than the other way around
avatar
Ratings: Dubravka 7/10 Murphy 2/10 Krafth 4/10 Schär 6/10 Burn 3/10 Anderson 4/10 Gordon 6/10 Longstaff 1/10 Bruno 6/10 Barnes 4/10 Isak 5/10 Subs: Hall 5/10 Wilson 4/10 Eddie Howe, poor poor poor as so often away from home. Set up was clearly not working and how waited far too long to change things up, 3/10
avatar
Was at work today so didn’t see the game, that’s a shocking result and I need an explanation on how that even happens. Pathetic
avatar
Yes I wasn't offended at all. AIK and Newcastle will never meet each other. Chelsea & RMA have been competing for the most prestigious tournament in the past 20 years, he's basically the definition of " Plastic"
avatar
If we won't go for Kelly this summer I hope we go all in for Bolognas Calafiori. He's a LCB/LB hybrid. As LB he's often Inverting into midfield, something Dan Burn haven't been capable off. Calafiori is extremely good on the ball for a CB. Seen us been linked with Torinos CB Bongiourno, decent CB but Calafiori got the much higher ceiling and the versatility we need
avatar
He’s American
avatar
the FA is so against betting yet all their sponsors are betting apps and all the ads on sky sports are legit about bet365 this is honestly ridiculous and betting should not be apart of football and players should not do it but that doesn't mean you give them 1 year bans when you promote betting across all prem games

Goals without pens, saka had 9 and palmer has 8 in the league 💀 don't comment shit and he ain't arsenal best player it's odegard.
avatar
Imagine spending €1,100,000,000 on players just for a Man City academy player to be saving you from relegation
avatar
Based on expectations at start of last season we did overachieve. However, on all attacking/defensive metrics we were the 3rd best team in the league behind Arsenal & Man City last season. Man utd who did eventually finish 3rd overachieved alot and based on expected points should have been 6th or so with Brighton 4th and Liverpool 5th. But yes I agree that we have shown heights this season we didn't see last year. When we have had a fit squad we have done very well this season. It's crazy that we are 6th with all the injuries we have had, genuinely think we'd be challenging for UCL spot this year too with less injuries
avatar
Schär the most complete CB in the world. Passing, dribbling, defending, shooting, leadership etc. He's got it all
avatar
Schar was bought for les than 5 MILLION Pounds lmao. Very underrated defender in the league.
avatar
That hybrid back4/5 with Elliott Anderson switching between LWB/LCM caught Ange by surprise. As @UPtheToon said, a Eddie Howe Masterclass. We have a entire starting 11 missing and yet destroy Spurs with our " B team"
avatar
Ho. Ly. Fuck. I was expecting us to get battered based on what we had available, but to win 4-0 is incredible. Elliott Anderson was fantastic today for me, particularly given how much game time he's had this season and how long he missed through injury.
avatar
There's been multiple rumours on what the obligation is, one is that we finish 15th or above, one we don't get relegated, then there's games played etc... But howe has already confirmed that he'll be at the club next season, so it must be triggered, just not confirmed. But he's a prospect, he's a good player, he was arguably Chelsea's best player last season when he broke into the team, he just needs a proper run of games. For me it's been frustrating because we've needed depth in midfield, and that's his natural position, so why we haven't utilised him there has left me baffled, but howe said he was ready defensively yet, but at the time he said that, Dan burn was being slaughtered every game. We need to use him more in the run in, whether that be at lb, or in midfield.
avatar
better than kobbie

He's just Hungarian, let him be lol

Not sure why but he looks kind of like Timo Werner if he had down syndrome
