Yep! And miraculously, we are only 6 pts back of Europa in the league now too. We have a super difficult league schedule though to end the year (next 4 matches against all top 4 sides in the league), so winning the cup is gonna be our best bet

That play from Balde was crazy, to receive the pass with his left foot and back turned to the halfway line with his first touch, and his second touch to burn the defender, he really has world class pace. In situations where we can play on the counter he can be very dangerous with his speed. It was an awesome play and I'm happy we're finding a way to get something out of him this season.

Yea man! The depth of talent on the bench is crazy right now, bringing Nuamah Fofana and Benrahma is a luxury. Just need to find a way to get Gift Orban going. I also thought that overall we played a decent game, especially considering that Sage changed a lot of things. I thought Tolisso did a decent job playing the deep role, although I was surprised to see it since Matic has been so effective there. I thought Max had a difficult game though it seemed like he lost some of his rhythm over the two week break. He wasn't bad just sloppy with the ball. But you can tell that Tuesday was the biggest priority.

Would be incredible, we got an easy draw in the semis at home vs the bottom side of Ligue 2. Most likely will face either Rennes or PSG in the final though, so won't be easy (Rennes always play PSG well so that match is really 50/50)

WHAT A GAME. Got absolutely run over the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half, I'm thinking we will lose 3 or 4-1 the way it's going, subs come on and change everything. Hate to be negative but for me Nuamah was an absolute disaster all night, and has been honestly really bad most of the season. He has to be put on the bench. I think it's no coincidence the game changed as soon as he left. Plays by himself and has no football brain right now. If he doesn't learn to play with the team he won't last long at this club.

Yea no doubt, Lopes had nothing to do. We didn't even have to be good today, but we were very solid defensively and got timely goals when we needed it. Even Mommy Baldy somehow throwing his body at the ball to score a goal LOL

That's hilarious, fans that want us to be like Lens who have had their main core players, manager and system in place for over 3 years now. And they want a brand new coach and a whole new squad to achieve that. Funny! The reality is Sage deserves a ton of credit, and I cannot possibly imagine anyone leading the team next season, unless we have a catastrophic finish to this season and get relegated.

I honestly don't care that much about today's result. It's not like we had any chance at champions league. We had an amazing run, it is probably good to lose this game to ground the team a little. I thought we played really well the first 30 minutes and probably deserved to be winning by then. But afterwards Lens were really good and we weren't. My main issue lately is with Nuamah, I think he needs to be benched. He just doesn't combine well with teammates, and has no chemistry with the forwards or with whatever fullback he is playing with. He is very good at creating moments with dribbling but that's about it. And he is not giving us any goals and very little assists. He needs to improve a lot. I would maybe like to see if Fofana can play RW next match.

It's a shame because I want to get carried away lmao. There's a new feeling and energy around this team, it feels like we've turned a big corner psychologically. With everything we've been through this year, it would be incredible to play in a cup final.

Yea I thought O'Brien struggled today especially in the 2nd half (I don't blame him for the goal it was Orban who put everyone in danger with that pass). Seems like we can't get both CBs playing well together. It has mostly been Jake performing well but today it was DCC. With how big the squad has become, and another big game on Tuesday, I think Sage has some difficult choices to make with selections. My guess is we will see lots of rotation in the team. You think we will see Lovren/Adreylson on Tuesday? My guess is that we will, and they will both have a great opportunity to show themselves as a partnership that could potentially challenge Jake/DCC. I think Tuesdays team will look like this: 4-3-3 GK: Perri RB: Mata CBs: Lovren/Adreylson (wouldn't be surprised if Sage keeps Jake/DCC though..he seems to like them a lot) LB: Nico (tough to pull AMN out the way he is going but I doubt Sage keeps Nico on the bench CMs: same as today (if Max is fit) LW: Fofana ST: Lacazette (I think Orbans performance frustrated Sage a lot and he may lose his spot for the cup matches) RW: Cherki

Yeah, Matic is like a father playing with kids. He doesn’t need to make too much only good decisions at the right time. If it was the OL of some years, we would have lost this kind of games against small or bad teams For the defense, I think we should try Adryelson at least for the next game to see if he can be better than one of the CBs, if not we keep this composition that is really good for now

Matic is playing like a bigger, stronger, more athletic prime Busquets for us. But seriously. We would still probably be near the relegation playoff if it wasn't for him. He's been absolutely incredible. We can't play our football without him. It is as simple as that. To come into this mess, and be able to control our entire football just shows what a world class player he is. You can't buy his level of experience. We are so lucky to have him right now. Maitland-Niles again deserves a lot of credit for what he's doing for us, filling in so well wherever he is needed. Also, Caleta-Car played a really great game with O'Brien, he is improving a lot and that partnership is starting to grow on me. Bummed for Gift Orban, we gotta be patient with him. But he was awful today LOL. Mangala struggled a lot too, but again we have to wait on these guys. Also, I hope Caqueret will be fine for Tuesday. Fingers crossed!

Played a great match today. Bossed the 1st half and defended well in the 2nd. Probably MOTM. Matic coming in has allowed his game to flourish. Matic deserves a ton of credit for Max's revival.

We only need to win the last 12 matches in a row to qualify for CL. Only! Lol In all seriousness the next two games are crucial to win..we win at Metz, and I think it's pretty safe to breathe and not worry about relegation. We win the 2nd match and all of the sudden we are in a semifinal with Europa League qualification very possible.

I feel like it's going to take a few weeks/matches for Sage to figure out what his best XI is, and he deserves some time. He has a big squad to manage right now with lots of new faces and possibilities tactically. He definitely deserves some time to figure it all out. With AMN, I don't think he played a great match at RB, his positioning was really poor at times. I know RB is not his natural position, and like you said maybe he would be worth a try on the left. It's hard to pull Nico out of the XI, but his form has not been very good over the past couple of months, no doubt. He isn't giving us great depth in the attacking areas, and gets beaten too easily 1v1 on some occasions. He is my favorite Lyonnais though LOL, no matter his form he is always competing and giving 100% to the team. But like you said, whatever we decide on, any solution should always include Mata in the XI. He's too versatile and defensively strong to be left out of the team. I'm just not a big fan of DCC, he's too slow not only physically but tactically. I just feel like he gets caught out on too many occasions. He's not an aggressive defender nor a super tactically sound one. Outside of his strength, I don't see what he brings to the team that is truly irreplacable. He is not that bad, but I want to see what Adreylson can do.

Yeah really lucky to win today especially when he has made wird choice: Bench Mata while he is one of our best defenders = ??? For me, if he really want to play with a 4-3-3 formation: - Defense with O'Brien with either Mata or test Adryelson - RB: AMN or Mata if he doesn't play as CB - LB: I know it is weird but I was thinking like if we put Mata as a RB, we should test AMN as a LB because Tagliafico is not that good sometimes. Like AMN could slide when we have the possession like he did against Lille but I'm not sure it will work especially that Tagliafico can make the opposite (slide into a CB while AMN make the runs in the opposite) - Midfielders: Matic - Caqueret - Mangala (Or put Benrahma as a 10 but it would mean that we play in 4-2-3-1 - Attackers : Nuamah - Lacazette (Orban depends on against who) - Fofana (or Benrahma). But I feel like the problem is Lacazette is better when he has someone like Orban who puts pressure, makes the runs... Or just play with 5 defenders like we used to do (only work against teams loves to have possession)

I can't believe we won that match, feel like we did everything to lose it. Max was fantastic though, and Benrahma showed a lot of promising things today. If anything I was mostly upset with Sage, he was lucky today. Slow to make changes, and benching Mata? He is by far our best defensive player this season.

The team has improved a lot since the transfer window, we spent a lot of money and brought in many good/talented players. We still have issues especially in defense but we are finally not playing like a relegation team. I think we will finish closer to mid-table then relegation.

I'm with you man, I don't trust Jake with Caleta-Car, and both of the defenders were poor today. The team overall was bad and we were lucky to win.

Since the last two games against Marseille and Lille, he has become a completely different player. Pierre Sage found the perfect role for him, as a very free full-back, which plays midfield in the attacking phases fits him very well. He can change positions during the match, which allows for a lot of coaching opportunities. Nobody was counting on him but if he continues like this, it will be hard to do without him. 75/77

If we keep the same form, Sage has a big chance of staying. 7 wins out of 11 in a very difficult context. Now he has a great squad at his disposal so it will be down to his results. He seems to have the players on his side and totally has the fans in his pockets Its going in the right direction.

If we can stabilize ourselves in the 2nd half of the season then I honestly don't think we need too much in the summer. I think a high quality CB would be the #1 target and a playmaker/#10 to challenge/replace Cherki would be great. I think we have built our squad extremely well for the future. We had a great January transfer window. It all goes to the toilet though if we get relegated.

Totally bro! Nuamah lit up Merlin like a Christmas tree, he could not live with him. Nuamahs best performance by far, this is the first time that I've seen him where I really understood why we spent so much money for him. If I were Cherki I would be terrified, he may never see the pitch again if he doesn't wake up. Matic, he brings so much calm and class on the ball. I can't imagine how good our midfield will be when we add Mangala with Matic/Caqueret. And AMN deserves so much credit man, he had been fantastic over the past month. He plays the fullback positions extremely well. I still don't trust any of our CBs outside of O'Brian. But if AMN can keep up this level, I would love to see Mata in CB paired with O'Brien and keep AMN at RB. I'm not sure how good he would play as a RB with a 4-3-3 though, that's the big question. But with 3-4-3 he is really good

As always we need to be reasonable and not hyped but this victory is too good. For the first time in a long time we see football. Matic really is what we needed (hope he keeps this level) AMN who played as if he had no weak points: midfielder, defender, winger… bro can play everywhere and I’m really surprised because I didn’t think we would get something about him With Nuamah who litteraly fucked all the defenders more the really good entrance of Fofana Everyone played really good even if at the end we have built the Great Wall of China and I started shivering. Mangala and Benrahma can only add positive so yeah, I hope it will continue to the end

He played a great 2nd half he was big for us in a few moments. I can't wait to see him partner with Mangala and Matic, Matic brought us so much calm and tactical strength. For his first match with us, like wow lol. He oozes class. I also think Maitland-Niles deserves a lot of credit. He is playing so well at wingback. I've always liked the idea of playing Mata at CB bc he's the only defender I trust besides O'Brian (I don't anything about Adryleson) and if Niles can keep playing like this, we can play him at RB and move Mata to the center
