My assumption on this is. Baccus probably thought if he signs for a League One club, he'll guarantee to be in the starting XI while if he signed at a Championship club, he might be on the bench or not selected at some games. Mansfield Town are treating this as a big signing, which is good. Baccus now needs to play some real good football and that'll definitely get him noticed by some Championship and maybe some Premier League clubs in the future The only thing is dislike about this is he signed to Mansfield Town, one of Notts County's rival club (I'm a Notts County fan LOL).
