Buy:
Griezmann (85m), Lemar (40m), Alaba (45m), Danilo Pereira (idk ~30m), Malcom (idk ~25m).
Total ~ £225m
Sell:
Rooney (10m), Mata (20m), Smalling (20m), Carrick (0m), Young (5m), Januzaj (15m with add ons)
Total ~ £70m
Total Net Spend ~ £155m (also sold some dead wood in January that should likely contribute to the transfer budget)
Griezmann - That bit of quality up front and will be clinical. Should win us many games. Decent pace, creativity and movement should give balance to the team.
Lemar - Perfect 4-4-2 LM. Need someone creative out wide to cross balls into the box. He's good on defence too. Could be a left sided Beckham style player.
Alaba - Up for debate but a new starting LB is needed. No one has stepped up to the plate and done their job well enough. Alaba is top quality and has been at Bayern for a long time now. He's not been amazing this year which could mean he's getting restless and wants a move. He rates the EPL supporting Arsenal but no one in their right mind would transfer to Arsenal at the moment. His poor season could mean he's cheaper than normal due to less hype.
Danilo Pereira - Should challenge Herrera for the starting CM spot and allow a quality 4-3-3 option too in certain games. Quality player giving us a bit more depth allowing for more rotation and less fatigue in Pogba and Herrera.
Malcolm - We lack width with pace and creativity. He would provide that. Has an eye for a pass, can cross, corner specialist (useful). Much better creative wide player than a Rahford or Martial who really both should be playing striker.
Rooney - Past it and dragging the team down. Doesn't have the desire. Money we'd get for him is debatable given his wage. Depends on where he wants to go.
Mata - He's just turned 29 and I think he's on the precipice of a steep decline. His physical attributes have always been weak and I can see them declining rapidly to the point he's unusable. If we sold him now we'd still get decent money for him. I'd like to see him go to Everton so he can still be buddies with Herrera and Pogba and likely not move. Also maybe could tap up Lukaku to sign for us next summer.
Smalling - Hasn't shown he has enough ability to play for united. Made too many mistakes this season and isnt reliable. We should get rid of him to make way for Tuanzebe getting more game time.
Carrick - Too old and not mobile. Performances have massively dropped over the course of the season. Feel like next season he'll be a liability.
Young - Tough one because he has always done well when called upon but once again I think it's time for new blood like Fosu to get more game time over him. He shouldn't be as necessary anymore though with a new LB coming in and better wide player with decent crossing ability which was his best attribute. It's a close call for me with the fullbacks though. Many are on thin ice - Young, Darmian, Shaw.
Januzaj - Hasnt done well enough in his loan. Doesn't show enough promise to become a untied quality player. Still has ability though so we should stick in a buy back clause / add ons.
This squad would have 6 homegrown players meaning a maximum squad size of 23. Although that doesn't matter too much considering we can play as many players under 21 as we want and there's quite a few. Especially quite a few who in not very long will count as home grown themselves. It makes little difference. Could mean we go for a player like Rose at LB instead.
