Player-Riley Wallis, Age- 21, Position- Striker

Due to my ligament injury I completely missed the first 8 or so games in this period of time we were knocked out of the Europa league qualification which meant we entered the UEFA conference league group stages, thankfully I was finally injury free the day before the transfer window closed, this gave me hope that I could leave Aberdeen this year, but due to my injury my value dropped drastically and only Brighton and Brentford were interested, and they were both championship teams so I decided to stay with Aberdeen for now.


Despite being injury free, I was now in the reserves and had to work my way back up to being a starter by training and taking my opportunities when I came on as a substitute, which was very hard because most times I came on we were 2-3 nil down and there was only a few minutes remaining.


After 12 Games I had finally worked my way back into the starting line up for our next match which was away against rangers, we are currently second bottom after the squad was severely weakened in the transfer window with players like Watkins and Ferguson leaving, Whilst Ramirez was leaving in January.

It took me a few more games after the Rangers match, but eventually I was able to permanently reinstate myself in the starting 11, Wallis entered a rich vain of goal scoring form and the team went on a good run, once we reached January and Christian Ramirez left for Romania, I was finally being played in my natural position as a striker rather than as a CAM.

Our Great run of form allowed us to revive the season as we climbed up to 4th with a few games remaining to confirm a place in the European qualification rounds, sadly we were not able to progress in the European Confrence League as an appalling few games meant we finished bottom of the group.

However, this was not the end of our season yet, after we dispatched Livingston 2-0 in the Scottish Cup Quater-Final we moved onto the semis where we were due to play Celtic, The game started and I was sheepish about our chances especially after Celtic took the early lead, But a quick brace from the Japanese forward Yuya Asanso had us 2-1 in front with Merely seconds remaining, To help keep the lead the manager changed formation and placed me in Centre Back to help defend, Time was slowly slipping away for the men in Green but in the 91st minute disaster struck as Their Japanese forward Furuhashi broke our hearts to send the game into extra time.

Despite the score now being level, for some reason I remained in defence, But you can’t take away the strikers instinct, Celtic whipped a ball into the Aberdeen box but it was caught out the air by Lewis, Suddenly Celtics Defence was really open and a counter-attack was on the cards, I was played through by Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Calmly slotted the ball away to make it 3-2.

There was 5 minutes remaining and the entire 5 consisted of crosses been whacked into the Aberdeen box, Luckily we just about hung on and won 3-2….. The Upset was complete, Now onto the final.

Unsurprisingly the team we would face in the final is Rangers, It will probably be Wallis’s last ever game for Aberdeen so it would be great to end his time there with the first trophy of his career.

Sadly it would not go that well, we were utterly thumped and lost 5-1 with Wallis getting his final goal In front of the fans, Onto the next season however I doubt it will be playing in the Scottish premiership.

Despite our injury we still managed 40 games this season across all tournaments including international where we scored 37 Goals and got 20 assists.
