Tactics:
5-2-1-2 formation, but acts like a 4 1 2 1 2
The gk as 1
The 2 cb as a, b
The fullback as c,d
The cdm/cb as ☆
The cms as e,f
The attack as 9,10,11(9 being the ls, 10 being the cam, 11 being the cf)
1. When we have possession
¹"Game start
Either the 9 or 11 pass to the cam and then to e and fs. This buys time for the fullbacks to come up the pitch. The gk also acts as a secondary option to put the ball above the halfway line.
²" Attack
C,d runs up the pitch to create a numerical advantage. No. 10 runs freely in the tight spaces, sometimes switching with 9 and 11. If the ball is to either e or f and there's is a highly congested middle field, they are able to pass the ball to c or d(e and f is almost stationary. They stay on the middle of the pitch to control the tempo and check the balance, I.e. retaining possession).
⅓. When there's space: dribble, pass=>forward is the key
⅔. When there's no space:
In our turf: e, f does the tiki taka with no. 10 or ☆. They drag out opponents to create space
In their turf: no. 10 dribble to bring the defenders toward him. If he went to no. 11's place, no. 11 backs out while remaining safe enough to recieve the ball and score(and vice versa). We can also pass it back to the fullbacks, who can assist in getting the ball into the right place
¹. When were severely marked
We intentionally lose the ball and surround the player with our numerical advanatage(basically a mental burden)
³" Defense
a, b and ☆ create a straight line in order to clear the ball. The cms also have a chance to pass it to ☆, who can act as an extra defender and a central midfielder.
In short: c, d, e, f, 9, 10, 11 creates a numerical advantage while ☆ act as a pendulum to create even more numerical advantage and a defense in the midfield. Basically if c, d helps 9 and 11, e, f need to widen. Then ☆ can come in the middle to get the ball to each side of the pitch.
2. When we're out of possession
¹" Opponents area: we severely pressure them in the upper north area(no. 10, e, f and sometimes 9 and 11 marks the players. If they play tiki taka, then create a zone for each player where they can't really pass it to anyone)
2" defending:
When we had possession ☆, a, b acted as a defender. However when we lose the ball the opponents will start to run down the pitch. Then e, f, a, b and ☆ run back to create a 5 men wall. When we earn time, c and d can run down the pitch to help contain the running men and pressure them. The goalkeeper(in this case he's fast) can also rush out and clear the ball.
In summary:
gk: acts as a secondary option. Needs good passing abilities and reflexes
a,b: the defenders need to mark the opponents. You have to be always ready for aerial duels or one on one situations
☆: you are the pendulum to our midfield. When we create space you and e, f need to work together to get the ball to no. 10, c, d.
c, d: you have the most stamina-consuming job. You have to run the pitch to give crosses, act as a second option(attack only), and as a defender. However, there will be cases in which you will cross the ball to 9 and 11. In that case save your energy.
e,f: your job is to control the midfield with the help of ☆. You need to pass and create spaces in order to give the ball to no. 10 and more. You need to have wide vision so that you can create chances while being able to defend at the same time
9, 10, 11: your job is to score. However you will need assistance from c,d,☆,e and f. Therefore, don't be greedy. Be patient. And you three need to coordinate in order to confuse the opposing team.
